Over the last 20 years, Darlene has helped adults, children, and families in overcoming the effects of trauma. She provides a safe environment to assist those who are dealing with relationship issues, divorce, anger, anxiety and/or depression. Some issues resolve relatively quickly and some take more time. She is comfortable taking the time needed for clients to achieve their therapy goals.

Darlene is a Licensed Professional Counselor by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, as well as a licensed LPC-Supervisor.  She received her Master of Arts in Psychology from the  University of North Texas in 1993 and her Bachelor in Psychology from UNT in 1990. She has extensive experience developing curricula and treatment programs for trauma within local shelters, schools, and private practice.

Darlene sees clients of all ages, utilizing a client-centered approach and play therapy with my youngest clients starting at the age of 3 years old. She is also EMDR trained.  Darlene, currently serves on the Board of the Texas Association for Play Therapy as the Regional Chapter Representative for North Texas, Sam Houston, & Central Texas Chapters, allowing her to promote the benefits of Play Therapy around the state.

With adults, Darlene is skilled and comfortable what she called ‘Plain Ol’ Talk therapy’, and she can occasionally include action methods of therapy for a change of pace. Psychodrama is a passion of Darlene’s and she is currently in training towards becoming a Certified Practitioner of Psychodrama.

Darlene is affiliated with the Association for Play Therapy, American Group Psychodrama Association, Trauma Support Services of North Texas, Dallas Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology, and the North Tarrant Mental Health Professionals. She also serves on the board of the Keller Counseling Association.
